How to read this comparison
We install Bradford White, Navien, and Rinnai tankless water heaters, so we have no reason to push one over another. This comparison uses only specs and warranty terms from each manufacturer's own pages, and where a page does not list something, we say so. We make no claim that any brand is the best. The right pick depends on your gas line, vent path, hot water use, and how you feel about recirculation.

Where each one stands out, from the published specs
Bradford White
Bradford White's Infiniti L and GR have a built-in recirculation pump, and the L and K list SRT scale reduction technology and flush ports for descaling. The K and L list venting up to 280 feet with 3 inch pipe, which can help in a house where the exit point is far from the unit. The company states its products are available exclusively through plumbing professionals and are manufactured in America with components from around the world. The K and L are indoor units; outdoor installation is on the GS and GR.
Navien
The NPE-S2 page lists four models up to 199,900 BTU per hour, installation indoors or outdoors, common venting for up to 12 units, and 2 inch PVC vent up to 75 feet. Recirculation is an add-on through the optional NaviCirc, and Wi-Fi is an add-on through NaviLink. Navien's warranty page shows the heat exchanger period drops from 15 years to 5 years under uncontrolled recirculation, so the loop design matters.
Rinnai
Rinnai's RX page lists a condensing unit up to 0.98 UEF, installable indoors or outdoors, with Bluetooth setup through the Rinnai Central app that does not need a Wi-Fi connection. Rinnai's labor coverage steps from 1 year to 5 years only if you register within 90 days of purchase, so registration is not optional if you want the longer period.
Which home suits which
- You want hot water fast at far fixtures. Compare units with a built-in pump (Bradford White L or GR) against add-on recirculation on other brands. Any loop adds a pump, a return path, and a warranty condition to read.
- Your vent run is long. The published vent lengths differ by brand and pipe size, so we measure the run first and match it to a unit.
- You want phone control. Rinnai lists app control through Bluetooth, and Navien lists optional Wi-Fi. Bradford White does not describe it for the gas tankless line.
- The unit must go outside. Bradford White GS and GR, Navien NPE-S2, and Rinnai RX all list outdoor installation. The Bradford White K and L do not.
- Parts and service matter most to you. This is more about your installer than the brand. Ask who will service it and how long they have worked on that brand.
What does not change with the brand
Gas line size, vent path, condensate drain, and hard water apply to all three. A condensing unit needs a drain, a high input unit needs enough gas, and scale builds on the heat exchanger no matter whose name is on the front. Bradford White's warranty, like the others, excludes problems from defective installation and from sediment or lime precipitate. We do the demand math, the gas and vent check, and the descaling plan the same way for every brand.
