Why you will not find Bradford White at a big box store

If you searched for a Bradford White tankless water heater and could not find one on a big box store shelf, that is by design. Bradford White's website states, "Our products are available exclusively through plumbing professionals," and describes its heaters as built to be professionally installed. So the usual way to get a Bradford White tankless is to hire a plumbing company that installs them. We install and service Bradford White tankless in Pierce and South King County.

How to get one installed

  1. Start with whether tankless fits your home. The gas line, vent path, drain, and hot water demand decide this, not the brand. A good installer will tell you if a tank or heat pump is the smarter call. Our tank vs. tankless guide lays out the trade-offs.
  2. Get an in-home assessment. We measure incoming water temperature, check gas and electrical capacity, look at the vent path, and pick the mounting spot. It is free, with no trip charge.
  3. Pick the series. Bradford White's gas line is called Infiniti. The L and GR series have a built-in recirculation pump. The K and GS do not. The K and L are indoor units, and the GS and GR can go outdoors with a vent kit. Details are on our Bradford White tankless page.
  4. Get one flat-rate quote. It should include the unit, gas line changes, vent, drain, permits, and code upgrades, so there are no surprises on install day.
  5. Install and commissioning. A first-time tankless install is often a full day. We run gas, water, and vent, mount and commission the unit, test temperature rise at your fixtures, and walk you through it.
  6. Permit, inspection, and registration. We pull the permit where required, schedule the inspection, and register the warranty.

Bradford White also has a tool on its site to find a local plumbing pro. Using it is a fair way to compare quotes. You can also use our instant estimate or contact us and we will set up a free assessment.

What to ask any installer

  • How will you size it? You want to hear incoming water temperature, temperature rise, and peak simultaneous demand. Bradford White lists GPM at several rises on its spec sheets, so a good answer references them.
  • Will my gas line and meter support it? Ask whether the line needs an upsize and who pulls the gas permit.
  • Where will the vent and the condensate drain go? Ask about vent length, number of elbows, and whether a condensate neutralizer is included.
  • What is the descaling plan? Local water scales a tankless heat exchanger, and the Bradford White warranty excludes problems from sediment or lime precipitate. Ask what service is offered and how often.
  • Who registers the warranty, and what does it cover? Bradford White's Infiniti K and L warranty lists 15 years on the heat exchanger and 5 years on parts, or 8,000 operational hours, whichever is shorter, and excludes labor. Ask what the installer's own workmanship warranty covers, since the manufacturer's does not cover labor.
  • Is the quote flat-rate and does it include the permit?
  • Who will service it later? Tankless units need periodic service. Ask whether the installer services what they install.

Do not buy the unit online first

We have not verified how Bradford White treats a unit bought outside a professional install, so check with the manufacturer before buying one on your own. Rinnai's warranty page, for example, warns that products from unauthorized online dealers may not carry its warranty. Ask your installer first, and let them supply the unit they will stand behind.

We also install Bradford White tank and heat pump models

Bradford White's residential line includes gas and electric tank heaters and AeroTherm heat pump water heaters, and we install and service those too. If your gas line or vent will not support tankless, one of those may be the better answer. See our water heater service and our Bradford White brand page.

Where we install

We install across Kent to Orting, Enumclaw, Olympia, Bremerton, and Graham, including Bonney Lake, Puyallup, and Tacoma. Compare brands in our Bradford White vs. Navien vs. Rinnai article, or see the buying guide before you call.
